Become a defender of freedom of choice: join DIGNITAS as a member
Why?
DIGNITAS – To live with dignity – To die with dignity is a Swiss not-for-profit membership association which advocates, educates and supports improving care and choice in life and at life’s end, worldwide.
DIGNITAS is involved in landmark legal cases at the European Court of Human Rights and other courts – from Pretty v. United Kingdom in 2002 to Carter v. Canada, which overturned criminal code provisions prohibiting assisted dying – and actively contributes to the global development of legal standards.
DIGNITAS submits in-depth, well-reasoned contributions to consultations on legislative proposals and has done so in the UK, Australia, Scotland, Canada, New Zealand and Switzerland.
DIGNITAS is regularly consulted by parliamentary committees and lawmakers. The organisation has welcomed members of the UK House of Lords, the Commission on Assisted Dying, the External Panel on Options for a Legislative Response to Carter v. Canada, and many others.
Since 1998, we have been working to protect your freedom of choice and to realise what we call the “last human right.”
We are funded entirely by voluntary public contributions. Your membership matters, as it enables us to take action for self-determination – for everyone, including you. Regular membership fees help us plan our activities reliably.
