DIGNITAS \u2013 To live with dignity \u2013 To die with dignity is a Swiss not-for-profit membership association which advocates, educates and supports improving care and choice in life and at life’s end, worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DIGNITAS is involved in landmark legal cases at the European Court of Human Rights and other courts \u2013 from Pretty v. United Kingdom in 2002 to Carter v. Canada, which overturned criminal code provisions prohibiting assisted dying \u2013 and actively contributes to the global development of legal standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DIGNITAS submits in-depth, well-reasoned contributions to consultations on legislative proposals and has done so in the UK, Australia, Scotland, Canada, New Zealand and Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DIGNITAS is regularly consulted by parliamentary committees and lawmakers. The organisation has welcomed members of the UK House of Lords, the Commission on Assisted Dying, the External Panel on Options for a Legislative Response to Carter v. Canada, and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
